I'd trade him today.
what is your thoughts on him?
Great power, gonna put up 40-50 bombs every year and great OBP usually around .380-.410. but he has a sub-par average (under 250), and imo is the best designated hitter in the national league (meaning he doesn't play much defense).
Do you think he will stick around Cincy, especially since there first round draft pick was an OF and Kearns is slowly but surely starting to put the ball in play more and more each day?

Dunn is an All-Star caliber player. Yes his BA is low (.234 as of today) but he's drawn 64 BB and his OBP is .372, pretty good. Out of 68 hits he's got 14 2B and 26 HR and 54 RBI. Even though he's not getting a ton of hits, he drives in runs through extra-base hitting and he's on base a lot, giving his teammates a chance to drive him in. He's a strong offensive threat IMO.
The Reds will probably do whatever they can to keep him around, IMO. Dunn is the face of the franchise, along with Griffey and perhaps Arroyo now with all the success he has had there. But you never can tell with the MLB and free agency being what it is.

26 home runs and barely over 50 RBI's not to mention he makes pitiful plays in the field and just today forgot how many outs there were in the top of the first inning when he was hitting second. Yea, I'll trade him today for a great closer and some prospects or a top of the line starter. Outside of that Grand Slam the other day he doesn't really hit well in the clutch, he K's way to much and to be honest pretty much refuses to play small ball.

sacrifice fly is not in his vocabulary

he's a good player. I think he would be a great player if he choked up with two strikes but it appears he is not going to do that! Defensively he stinks, but he does drive in runs and he does get on base. Im not sure you would get his value for him in any trade because of the K's (good teams would be leary of that!) But hey, they got bronson arrojo for Willie Mo and Willie mo is not nearly as good as dunn!!
You act like 26 HR and 54 RBI is nothing... let's see the season is about halfway done, so if he keeps the pace he'll hit 52 HR and drive in over 100 runs. I guess that's not good enough for the mighty Reds? Agreed that they could use some more pitching, but so could every other team in the league. He is the only strong offensive presence on that team, and don't say Griffey because he just flat can't get it done anymore. They are a much better team with Dunn than with what they could get for him.

Ok dude i dont know if you watch the reds or anything for that matter but thats ok. Saying Griffey just cant flat out get it done anymore i dont know were ur coming from. Granted he has lost some with all the injuries ill give you that but saying he cant get it done anymore is ridiculous. He has 18 hrs which is in the top half in the bigs and over 50 rbi's and he missed a full month of the season. I would love to see him stay healthy for a full year completley but to say that he just cant flat out get it done anymore is wrong. And i would like to hear your opionin or how u are coming up with this.
good point vb 3...since when are the reds good enough to by pass 26 and 52 from a player!! Send Dunn to the cubs!! we will take him for sure!! Take a look at our outfield numbers and then you will think dunn is the next coming of Henry Aaron!!! I would most definitely have to say that NOT staying healthy would mean that someone just flat cant get it done. If you cant stay healthy to put up the numbers, then you arent getting crap done......... which is exactly what griffey has been doing the past so many years. Maybe gets lucky and does decent, but when you are scared to play all out because you know you are going to get hurt......... and you know he does, he favors his leg all the time, then you arent getting it done.
Cant we all just get along?
